Ahegao is a Japanese time period used to explain an expression of maximum pleasure or ecstasy, typically depicted in anime and manga. The time period is derived from the Japanese phrases “ahe” (which means “to sigh”) and “gao” (which means “face”). Ahegao faces are sometimes characterised by wide-open eyes, a gaping mouth, and a flushed face.
Ahegao faces are sometimes used to precise sexual pleasure, however they may also be used to precise different feelings, resembling shock, pleasure, and even ache. In some instances, ahegao faces could also be used for comedic impact.
